Over the last year or so, the amount of minutes spent streaming live sporting events has exploded and the trend has continued with this year's NCAA basketball tournament.
Turner Sports, which manages online and mobile streaming of the tournament is reporting that through the first week of the tournament, there has been over 51 million video streams across all digital platforms, which has surpassed the 49 million video streams for the entire tournament last year.
Through the first week of the tournament, there has been more than 10.5 million hours worth of streaming, up 6% from last year and mobile usage (tablets and smartphones) has seen live streams for the first week of the tournament increase 74% from the same time last year.
