From reading this article, it's apparent that the Chicago Cubs appear headed to ending their generations old agreement to televise games on WGN.  Last year, the Cubs announced the option to opt-out of their agreement with WGN at the end of the 2014 season.

Tim Brando & CBS Sports Are Going Their Separate Ways

The Sports Business Daily is reporting this morning that after 18 years, Tim Brando is leaving CBS.  Brando announced on his Facebook page that the TV simulcast of his radio show would no longer be televised on CBS Sports Network.  Brando's replacement show on CBS Sports Network is a simulcast of WFAN's Boomer & Carton show.  It should be noted that WFAN is owned by CBS.

Brando's radio show continues to be carried by Sirius/XM on The College Sports Nation channel.

Sunday's AFC Divisional playoff game between Denver and San Diego was the most watched game of the weekend.

NFL Explores A New TV Contract

The New York Times is reporting that the NFL is looking to expand its Thursday Night package that would expand the package of games to 16 and is looking for a TV partner that will split the package 50/50 with the NFL Network.

This would be the boon that both Fox and NBC are looking for when it comes to their cable sports entities of Fox Sports 1 and NBCSN.  All 4 of the major broadcast networks as well as TNT are expected to bid on the package.

Dish Network Is Expected To Carry SEC Network Upon Launch

Sports Business Journal is reporting today this morning that Dish Network is expected to carry the SEC Network  upon launch this August.  In addition, SEC Network is expected to top what BTN and the Pac 12 networks charge per subscriber within the SEC footprint.

If how Dish Network treats BTN and the Pac 12 Networks is any indication, the SEC Network will be on primary programming packages within the SEC footprint and in the sports pack in other regions of the country.
