MLB on TBS announces it's early 2011 schedule

TBS today announced it's schedule of Sunday afternoon baseball telecasts for the first two months of the 2011 season and expect a heavy influence of East Coast teams, every game but one over the first two months will showcase either Philadelphia, Boston, or the New York Yankees.

One Midwest team, the Chicago Cubs is scheduled to be on TBS once during the first two months and as usual, the game will be subject to blackout across Iowa.

Were to find TruTV

With the NCAA Basketball Tournament tipping off next week, a little known cable channel called TruTV will be thrust into the national spotlight asking questions like "what's TruTV" and "do I have TruTV"?

In Central Iowa, Mediacom does carry TruTV in both standard def and HD. On family cable, Mediacom carries TruTV on channel 43 and in the HD package on channel 869. Outside of Central Iowa, you should refer to your cable lineup if you are unsure if TruTV is carried or not.

On DirecTV, TruTV is sandwiched between TBS & TNT on channel 246 and on Dish Network, TruTV is carried on channel 204. Dish Network carries TruTV in HD and DirecTV intends to launch TruTV in HD prior to the start of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

VERSUS to televise the Notre Dame Spring Game

The marriage between Comcast & NBC continues to grow as today it was announced that VERSU will televise the Notre Dame spring football game on April 16 and on March 17 will air 3 classic Notre Dame games from years past.

Time will tell how it plays out, but I think you could seen enhanced Notre Dame coverage on VERSUS, obviously Notre Dame football itself won't be shown on VERSUS, but I think you could see pre & post game coverage on VERSUS similar to what Comcast SportsNet Chicago does for their Bears postgame coverage.

I've written before that I don't agree with a possible rebrand of VERSUS to some sort of an NBC Sports Channel (I would like to see VERSUS rebrand into a national version of the regional Comcast SportsNet's), I do think that the writing is on the wall for an NBC Sports Channel and this move will happen, probably in late summer to coincide with the start of football.
