Week 1 Of The NFL on Fox Brings Record Ratings

Yesterday, I noted the ratings success of the 2013 debut of America's Game of the Week and today, it's released that the week 1 doubleheader on Fox generated record ratings.  The doubleheader generated a rating of 12.9/25 and 21.8 million views.  Both numbers were an all time high for week 1 on Fox.

Week 3 Of College Football On The ESPN Platforms

The third week of college football across the ESPN family of networks will include 37 games on radio, television and online.

ABC has a triple header beginning with the battle of ranked teams in Lincoln as the Huskers play host to UCLA.  ESPN beings it's quadrupleheader and 11am and continues all day with an instate show down as Louisville travels to Kentucky.  An additional instate game will feature Oklahoma against Tulsa on ESPN2.

A complete sneak peak of the weekend's broadcast schedule of college football action will be published here tomorrow.

Sunday Night Football Wins The Night In Ratings

As expected, NBC's Sunday Night Football was a ratings winner for NBC last night.  The match up between the New York Giants & Dallas Cowboys posted 16.6/27 over night rating.

It was a best over night rating for Sunday night on any network since last February's Oscars telecast.

NFL On Fox Debuts To Record Ratings

The beat rolls on for high ratings for the NFL.  Yesterday's America's Game Of The Week showcasing the Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49'ers as Candlestick Park begins it's final season, generated 17.8/34 rating.  This overnight rating is the highest ever for Week 1 on Fox.

In addition, Fox NFL Sunday, which was aired from Times Square generated strong ratings as well.

NFL on CBS Debuts To Strong Ratings

It never fails to amaze just how popular the NFL is in this country.  The NFL on CBS generated some awfully strong ratings yesterday, highest ratings in 14 years for week 1 and up 8% from last year.

You will probably see high ratings for Fox & NBC when they release their numbers.  NBC has to be thrilled to have the NFL back as their ratings nose dived last year when the NFL season came to a close.

ESPN To Manage Dallas Bowl Game

Want to know why there are so many post-season college football bowl games?  ESPN Regional Television runs and controls 10 of the bowl games and just picked up another.

It was announced last week that ESPN will manage Heart of Dallas Bowl game that is played on January 1 from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX and will feature schools from Conference USA and the Big 10.

This is why the bowl system will never go away, ESPN manages several of the bowls and provides inventory for their networks when college basketball is on Christmas break and there is nothing else going on.  The bowls that ESPN manages are set forth below.

BBVA Compass Bowl (Birmingham, AL)
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl (St. Petersburg, FL)
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX)
Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, AL)
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, ID)
Gildan New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, NM)
Heart of Dallas Bowl (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX)
Lavs Vegas Bowl (Las Vegas, NV)
Texas Bowl (Houston, TX)
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl (Honolulu, HI)
