CBS Acquires A Few Big East Basketball Telecasts
Fox Sports today has announced that an agreement has been reached with CBS Sports to sublicense up to 30 Big East Men's basketball games to CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network.
The Agreement begins with the 2013-14 basketball season and includes two telecasts on CBS and 18 telecasts on CBS Sports Network.
The Big East is what Fox Sports 1 is going to hang their hat on this winter, so this is a surprising move. Fox Sports must be confident enough in their inventory of live sporting events to sublicense game telecasts to not effect their existing inventory. Not to mention, in gives a boost in programming for CBS Sports Network.
You can get a complete list of Big East games to be televised on CBS or CBS Sports Network at the link above.

Is CSN Chicago about to become NBCSN Chicago?
I keep noticing in press releases from NBC Sports that the Comcast regional sports networks ("RSN's), including Comcast SportsNet Chicago, being refereed to as the NBC RSN's.
NBC owns several RSN's from coast to coast, all in top 10 media markets. A rebrand to NBCSN Chicago, New England, etc. would make perfect sense. In addition, with all of the resources of these RSN's, I have always thought it would logical for NBC to pool its resources from NBC Sports & the RSN's together and launch a nightly highlight show on NBCSN.
Rebranding the RSN's to NBCSN fill in the blank market would add instant credibility to NBCSN and provide an alternative to Fox Sports 1's Fox Sports Live as a competitor to SportsCenter.

Sunday NFL Telecast Predictions For KDSM
Here are my predictions for KDSM Sunday NFL telecasts. As with the KCCI predictions, late in the season NBC flex picks aren't factored in.
Regarding my picks for KDSM, they have 3 teams to be concerned about, Chicago, Green Bay, & Minnesota. When Kansas City is playing on the road in an NFC stadium, history has shown that KDSM often sticks with the most competitive NFC North game available.

In just over a month, the puck will drop for the 2013-14 NHL season and Fox Sports North has announced it's broadcast plans for the upcoming season. The Regional Sports Network ("RSN") based out of the Twin Cities will televise 70 games this coming season.
Fox Sports North's coverage will begin on Saturday, October 5th as the Wild will play host to the Anaheim Ducks. The 70 game schedule includes 7 telecasts on FS North+.
FS North is the primary RSN across Northern Iowa and is available on some local teleco's cable lineup across the state and outside of Northern Iowa, FS North is available in the sports pack on DirecTV and Dish Network.

Sunday NFL Telecast Predictions For KCCI
One of the great things about Central Iowa is that the Des Moines market is a melting pot when it comes the various fan bases of NFL teams. You will find large fan bases of all of the regional NFL teams in the market. For the most part, broadcast affiliates have no control over what NFL game they are assigned, but they do have some limited say.
Rule of thumb for KCCI is that when they have the opportunity to televise an NFC North team on the road at an AFC stadium, KCCI will request to air that game, which reflects my prediction for week 1. In addition, if the Chiefs are playing an AFC West team on the road with a 3pm start, KCCI will often request to opt out of the telecast so that they can get their evening news in. Finally, if the Chiefs are a terrible team, KCCI will request to air the most competitive game available.
So, here are my predictions for KCCI NFL telecasts for the 2013 NFL season. This does not take into consideration flex out's that NBC may have late in the season.
Week 1: Chicago @ Cincinnati
Week 2: Miami @ Indianapolis (early) & Denver @ New York Giants (late)
Week 3: Cleveland @ Minnesota (early) & Indianapolis @ San Francisco (late)
Week 4: Pittsburgh vs Minnesota (London game)
Week 5: Kansas City @ Tennessee (early) & Denver @ Dallas (late)
Week 6: Oakland @ Kansas City
Week 7: Houston @ Kansas City (early) & Cleveland @ Green Bay (late)
Week 8: Cleveland @ Kansas City
Week 9: Tennessee @ St. Louis (early) & Pittsburgh @ New England (late)
Week 10: Cincinnati @ Baltimore (early) & Denver @ San Diego (late)
Week 11: Baltimore @ Chicago
