53 weeks ago, I started this blog in the hopes to make some extra money for my family, which I have, a whole whopping $12.00. My life has dramatically changed over the last week that is going to make me shut this blog down for the time being.

Will the Longhorn Network suffer the same fate as Victory Sports One?

Victory Sports One, a regional sports network owned by the Minnesota Twins, hit the air in October of 2003. The goal of Victory Sports One was to achieve the success of the New York Yankee owned & operated YES Network.

In Victory Sports One's short life, one important thing was missing and that was eyeballs. Victory Sports One failed to secure carriage agreement's with Dish Network, DirecTV, or any major cable TV provider throughout the Twins TV footprint.  Eventually, shortly after the start of the 2004 MLB season, it became apparent that Victory Sports One was going to be a failure, the Twins and their former broadcast partner, FS North executed a new TV contract and that was the end of Victory Sports One.

The Longhorn Network, a 20 year, $300 million marriage between The University of Texas and ESPN, is set to hit the air in less than a week. There's just one tiny problem, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that The Longhorn Network has yet to reach carriage agreement's with Dish Network, DirecTV, or any major Texas cable TV provider.

For as much controversy that The Longhorn Network has generated this summer and the fact that the network has yet to secure any carriage agreement's, many college football fans across the country is hoping that The Longhorn Network falls flat on its face.
