NHL Stadium Series Draws Record Viewers

For the most part, the NHL dwarfs the NFL in viewership, however, you put an NHL game outdoors and viewership spikes and the recent NHL Stadium Series is no exception.

Over the weekend, the NHL played two outdoor games in the country's two biggest media markets and the ratings were impressive.  Sunday's NHL game played at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx averaged over 2 million viewers and posted a 1.3HH rating making it the highest rated NHL regular season telecast ever on NBC, these ratings exclude the Winter Classic.

In addition, Saturday night's game played at Dodger Stadium averaged 622,00 viewers and posted an overnight rating of 0.35, up 139% from 2013 NHL games with a 9pm (CT) start.
