With Brent Musburger sliding over to the SEC Network, it created an opening at ESPN for the lead Saturday night primetime voice of college football on ABC as well as a void for the post season and ESPN moved quickly to fill it.
Chris Fowler, the long time host of ESPN's famed College GameDay pregame show, has signed an extension to remain at ESPN and was named the lead voice of ABC's primetime college football telecasts. Fowler, who worked the Thursday night telecasts from 2006-2009, will be teamed in the both with Kirk Herbstreit and will remain as host of College GameDay.
