The Sports Business Journal is reporting that the NFL will will renew their broadcast TV contracts with CBS, FOX, and NBC for just over a whopping one billion dollars per year per network. That's an increase of 60% from the previous TV contracts and the new deal is worth a combined $24 billion over the next 8 years.
In the past, the broadcast networks have asked local affilates to share the expense of televising NFL games and that's part of the reason why you see the local affiliates asking cable companies for money to to be carried on cable and that's why we often see carriage disputes and in some instances, local stations being removed from cable lineups.
