I have no idea how this has become a Fourth of July tradition, but it has. ESPN once again in 2011 will televise the International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
According to a Press Release from ESPN, the fun gets under way from Coney Island in NY at 11am (CT).. Some of the highlights of the hour long broadcast besides the 10 minute power feast include a Sports Science feature on Joey Chestnut and even the use of a heart monitor on one of the participants.
Over the last five years, this event has averaged over 1.5 million viewers.
