The 2010 NFL season smashed all sorts of records when it came to viewership and the trend continued with last night's Super Bowl.
According to various published reports, last night's coverage of pro football's championship game averaged a staggering 111 million viewers with a total viewership of just under 163 million viewers and surpassed last year's Super Bowl as the most watched program in the history of television.
Super Bowl's have always generated monster ratings, but last year's game over took the 1983 series finale of M*A*S*H as the most watched program in the history of television.
Even though for various reasons attendance may be down in most NFL cities, the ratings continue to prove that the NFL has never been more popular. The growth of HDTV, DirecTV's Sunday Ticket, man caves, and fantasy fooball all have fueled the NFL ratings bonanza.
