Is there a demand for "national feeds" of RSN's?

The Boston and New York sports teams may be some of the most despised sports teams in the country, however, is there demand for national feeds of the Red Sox owned NESN and Yankee owned YES?

Evidentally, both the Red Sox and Yankees think so as both NESN and YES are rolling out national feeds of their respective networks. Here's the kicker, game coverage of the Red Sox and Bruins on NESN and Yankees and New Jersey Nets will be blacked out. So what then is the point of having national feeds just for pregame and postgame shows as well as specialty shows? Regional Sports Networks are expensive to carry to begin with, even if the national feeds of NESN and YES are added to digital ala-carte packages, will non Boston or New York fans tolerate the added expense?

Oh guess what Mediacom subscribers? The national feed of YES Network has a deal in place with Mediacom, but to my knowledge, YES National hasn't been made available to Mediacom subscribers.
